With a dynamic based on teamwork, Atelier Pedra Líquida enjoys designing within the contemporary city, believing in its evolution and progressive consolidation. As a versatile and interdisciplinary collective, it engages in: urban and architectural rehabilitation projects; new housing projects; hospitality and service projects; corporate projects, particularly in the field of new technologies (IT); as well as curatorial and editorial projects.
Despite their distinct natures, the projects of Atelier Pedra Líquida possess a unique identity, reflecting the passage of time in urban space and life within cities that ideally become more sustainable and sociable. The component of promotion, management, and construction of works—another part of the atelier’s practice—seeks to follow its design principles.
The name derives from concrete (liquid stone), a material the atelier frequently uses in its various appearances and materialities. Conscious of the ecological footprint of this material, the atelier seeks to use it where it is significant and indispensable, introducing recycling processes in its production, composition, and integration into work. Concrete surfaces are crafted with a tectonic and ornamental approach—a concept reframed in contemporary architecture—and are integrated with other elements arising from the architectural and urban contexts in which they are placed. After all, all cities are simultaneously “pétreas” and “líquidas”.
