Casa na Rua do Monte Aventino
The narrow and long lot challenged the search for a scheme of spatial relationships that would decompress the internal division of the house. Thus, in a clear play of solids and voids, the house presents itself as a block from which its core has been removed. This intermediate void, which frees the interior of the house and projects it from one side to the other to the exterior, corresponds to the common/social spaces of the residence - the living rooms and the office, which receive light from large openings to the south and north. Accessed from a lower level, this central core is the first point of arrival into the interior space of the house. Around the central void are all the other spaces considered more private in the house. In a homogeneous and coherent scheme, distinct spaces are created, ensuring a fluid spatial dynamic for the house. The internal design of the house also seeks its expression on the exterior. The central void corresponds to large openings, which relate to Rua de Manuel Carqueja to the north and the backyard to the south. The private spaces of the house correspond to less open windows, signifying privacy. The interior is designed with warm wooden surfaces and is protected on the exterior by hard, black concrete that contends with its surroundings.
